Differences Between the Book's Fifth Year and Our Fifth Year.
- Unlike in the book, there were not many attacks. In fact the Ministry was capable of convincing everyone that Dumbledore was quite crazy.
- Dumbledore left the school after deciding it was a better way to act, as he continued to organize the Order of the Phoenix. Meanwhile, Hogwarts was taken over by the Ministry, and a group of students started Dumbledore's Army.
- During the summer following the fifth year, with few exceptions, students were sent to a summer camp by order of the Ministry.
- In an attempt to frighten the Ministry and try to take a hold of Hogwarts a group of Death Eaters kidnapped some students, which ended up in the death of Cho Chang. The kidnapping was reported in the Daily Prophet.
- Order members rescued the students after a group of students attempted but failed to rescue the ones kidnapped.
- The Ministry covered it all up by changing the memories of some families and saying that the students had merely gotten lost. If the students attempted to say the truth mostly they received jests and were treated as if they were insane. The Daily Prophet claimed the information they had received was from Dumbledore in a desperate attempt to regain control of Hogwarts.
- Dumbledore is a convicted criminal and is being looked for by Ministry members.
- Sirius Black is alive.
- After the disappearance of Mr. Fudge, the Minister of Magic. Lucius Malfoy was appointed the new Minister.
- Bellatrix Black broke out of Azkaban prison, but it was not reported right away. Instead it was reported much later.
- The Weasley twins shop is located in Hogsmeade. Much to the dismay of many persons.
