THE CHARACTER
Book Character, or Original: Original
Full Name: Vivian Marie Free
Nicknames: Vie. Tony, the oldest brother, had issues saying ‘Vivian’ when he was younger. He started calling her ‘Vie’, and it just sort of stuck. But she likes it.
Age: 08/25/1982 14 years old
Year: Fourth Year
Pets (if any): A kitten *pure white* Name: Snowball
A Barn owl Name: Samson
House: Slytherin, Ravenclaw, Gryffindor, Hufflepuff
Blood Lines: She is a half-blooded witch. Though she doesn’t really talk about it. She doesn’t like talking (or even thinking) about it. She wishes she was pure-blooded instead.
Her father is a pure-blood wizard. Douglas Andrew Free. He comes from a long line of pure blooded wizards and witches. He is the first as far as anyone (within the family) knows to date, court, marry, and have children with anyone less than pure blood.
Because he married a muggle-born, his parents haven’t spoken to their oldest son since then. Not even when they were informed that they had became grandparents. They just didn’t care. They only care about keeping the blood line pure.
Of course, the house he had been sorted back in his first year hadn’t made his parents very happy either. That kind of started the riff between Douglas and his parents. He was sorted into Hufflepuff.
Then there is her mother. She is a muggle-born witch. Teresa Michelle (Blair) Free. She came from a full muggle family. Her parents were so proud when she told them what house she had been sorted into. That house being Gryffindor. Of course, they, being muggles, didn’t know all that much. Besides what Teresa told them at every chance. (Which turned out to be a lot!)
If Terri (Teresa’s mother) had simply looked a little bit into her own family past, she would have found the reason for her little girl to have magical powers. Great, Great, Great Grandfather Timothy. He had been a Squib. Though he didn’t tell a lot of people that little piece of information. He told his wife, and their only daughter. But that was it. Though that little piece of information was passed along until Terri’s mother. For some unknown reason, she didn’t pass the family secret onto daughter. But too late now . . . Elizabeth (Terri’s mother) has been died for five years now.
Background: Life started out nice and simple for young Vivian. She had two older brothers (twins) that are five years older than she is. Their names are Christopher James Free (training to be an Auror at the moment). Anthony David Free (has picked his side, and left the house). She has always felt closer to Tony than Chris. She just got along better with Tony. (Tony is the oldest, followed by Chris just five minutes.) Tony went into Slytherin and Chris went into Gryffindor.
As she grew up, she was the apple of her daddy’s eye. Owning to the fact that she was his only little girl. She could do no wrong. At least as far as Douglas saw it. And whenever she needed something, she wouldn’t even try asking her mom first. Vie would go straight to her daddy and get whatever she had wanted at that moment.
She wasn’t even a year old and she got the nickname ‘Vie’. Tony had tried to say ‘Vivian’ but he just couldn’t say it. So he went with an easier name. After a while, everyone just called her Vie.
If she hears ‘Vivian’ she knows she’s in trouble. Trouble that her daddy couldn’t even get her out of.
She hadn’t always been a self-righteous prat. That was thanks to Tony. Chris had tried to keep Vie on the path of goodness, but that wasn’t where she wanted to go. Instead she followed Tony’s footsteps.
Since her first year at Hogwarts, she has been making sure people know just who she is.
Since she first heard news that there is a war building up, she picked a side. She had a feeling that it would be better that way. And she sure didn’t pick the side of light (like Chris, Teresa and Douglas had chosen). Nope! She went for the side that Tony had joined. The “Dark Side”.
Two summers back, when Tony moved out of the house, he asked Vie if she would like to move out with him. She couldn’t answer fast enough. Within one weekend, they moved her things out. She had be thoughtful enough to at least leave a note for their mom and dad. She explained where she had gone, though she didn’t give a reason for it.
Chris had a hunch what that reason would be (he didn’t state his hunch to their parents). It wasn’t too hard for him to think of one, since at the start of the summer holiday he caught her reading a Dark Arts book. That wouldn’t have bothered him so much. He might have even just thought it had something to do with her D.A.D.A lessons, if it wasn’t for the fact that he knew Tony had bought the very same book (when the boys were just about to start their fifth year).
So for the past two summers she had been living with Tony. She couldn’t have been happier. Her parents have talked to Tony, and their first born lied to their faces. He simple told them that Vie felt cramped (mentally wise), and that she was doing great at his flat. That was a very[/u] small piece of the truth. The full truth was: That Vie was listening to everything Tony was telling her. As well as reading all of his old books. And he would always answer any question she had. It worked for the two.
Personality: Vie is a quick thinker, and even quicker person as managing to pass the blame off to someone else. She isn’t scared to share her option on any subject. Well, almost any subject. She may talk a lot but she knows what subjects she should talk about in public. She looks up Tony. She can’t believe what the “others” have chosen. She kind of thought Chris and her mom would pick the light side, but Vie had really thought her daddy would be on the same side as her. It seemed that she was wrong about that.
Vie hates being wrong. And the only thing she hates more than that would be someone pointing out/proving that she was wrong. That really gets under her skin. She has it in her head that people owe her things. Not everyone. Just some people. Some people might call her a “spit fire”. That just makes her laugh.
She is willing to put her life on the line for the few friends she has. She may not have very many, like others in the school. But the few she has she will stick to until the very end.
She has grown a bit since moving in with Tony. Of course, during the time away from her parents, Vie isn’t a relaxed as she use to be. But that doesn’t really bother her. In fact she seemed to have found a bright side to it. She sees it as an equal trade. Her being relaxed for being able to be herself. Vie knows she can deal with that trade.
Appearance: Vie stands at a whole 5’3”. Yeah, like hella short. Her total weight is 93 pounds. Small and thin. Not that she tried to be that in the first place. She gets it from her mother. Vie’s hoping that she will be able to grow some more still. She doesn’t like being so short. Even as the years go by, and she doesn’t grow, it worries her. Not that she would say anything about it or even show signs of being worried.
Her hair is a strawberry blonde. It hangs to the middle of her back, with a slight wave to it. Her eyes are normal size and are a lovely shade of startling blue-gray. Her cheeks have a slight pink color to them. The rest of her face is fairly pale. She has a few freckles across the bridge of her nose. She thinks her nose is too big for her face. Her lips are on the thin side. Without make-up her lips are a lovely soft shade of (what some people would call pearl) pink.
As for her clothing style, that’s sort of hard to explain. Her normal clothing style depends on a few things. One is being Vie’s mood. The second thing is Weather. The last thing would be the season of the year.
Basically her clothing ranges from jeans/pants/skirts with leggings/sweat pants/ sweaters/ long sleeve shirts/sweat shirts (during the winter) to dresses/skirts/shorts/tee shirts/tank tops (during the summer). As for the fall and spring, it really depends on the weather.
What makes your character different:
She is left handed. The only one in her family.
When[/u] she makes friends, she is loyal to the end.
What does your character thinks about Dumbledore: Vie isn’t fond of Albus Dumbledore. She thinks he has gone around the bend, his cheese had slipped off of his cracker, a few crayons short of a full box, is 100% crazy. She doesn’t trust a single word that he says. She never has, not since entering Hogwarts. She never explained why she doesn’t trust him. She just doesn’t believe anything he says. She also thinks he is full of himself.
Third Years to Fifth Years:
Arithmancy and Ancient Runes
Special Requests:
(Anything you feel you need to ask.)
Sample:
Vivian Free made her way down Diagon Alley. It was the perfect day for a little stroll. The Alley was the best place as well; she didn’t have to deal with muggles then. Of course, there were still those stupid worthless mud-bloods. The young witch felt that mud-bloods were worse than muggles. She hated the fact that Hogwarts aloud mud-bloods to even enter the school.
She shook her head as those thoughts raced through her mind. Not the first time she had those thoughts, and it wasn’t going to be the last time either.
As she walked along, she looked at the store fronts. Looking if there was anything worth her time of going into the store and look at closer. So far she hadn’t found a single thing. Of course that didn’t really surprise her. Yes! The fourteen year old enjoyed spending money, but she didn’t like to just waste it on stupid things.
She had a line that she just wouldn’t cross. Of things that were below her, as far as she saw it.
