Full name: Nymphadora Andromeda Tonks
Nicknames: She likes to be addressed by her surname, Tonks, as she hates being called by her first name.
Age: 24
Occupation: An Auror at the Ministry of Magic
Alliance: She is, of course allied with Dumbledore and is part of the Order of the Phoenix.
Blood Line: She is Pure blood seeing that her parents are a witch and wizard, but her father was a Muggle-born
Background: Nymphadora Andromeda Tonks was born into the family of Ted and Andromeda Tonks in London, England. The marriage of Ted and Andromeda cost her the respect of her entire family. Andromeda was born into the prestigious Black family, who were great supporters of Voldemort. She was therefore shunned out of the family when she married a Muggle-born wizard, the most loathed of all people by the Black family. She was even erased from their family tree. Being of the Black family, Nymphadora is niece of Narcissa (Black) Malfoy and cousin to Draco Malfoy. She is also cousin to Sirius Black. She is, in fact, Sirius’s favorite cousin, and he hers.
Nymphadora was not raised with the normal morals of the Black family. Andromeda and Ted did not believe that Muggle relations made anyone less of a witch or wizard. Ted especially, since he was Muggle-born. She was raised on the belief that her family would not make her the person she was. That she could chose her own destiny, and not have to worry about her reputation.
She was also born as a Metamorphmagus. It is an extremely rare talent, and is almost impossible to learn. Being a Metamorphmagus means that a person can change their appearance at will. When she was a baby, her mother noticed her hair changing colors, which is usually the first sign that someone possessed this gift. It can’t be said that Nymphadora hasn’t taken advantage of this special ability, and it has gotten her through many difficult situations.
Around the age of 12, Nymphadora became quite sick of being called by her first name. In her opinion, only a fool of a mother would name their daughter Nymphadora. It was then that she began insisting that people call her Tonks. Her parents were very stubborn when it came to this, but that compromised with her after many days of sobbing and whining. Now, they usually just refer to her as Dora. She enjoyed the sound of it so much more that Nymph...well, you get the picture.
When Tonks was eleven years old she, like so many others, received her acceptance letter to Hogwarts. Her parents were very proud of her, and felt that she deserved a treat, so her father snuck off to Diagon Alley the day before term started and bought her a Comet Two-Sixty Broomstick. It was one of the top quality brooms of the time. Off she went to the School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and soon realized that there was so much to the Wizarding world outside of her education. Like choosing a career and finding a job. Tonks attended school only a few years after the defeat of Lord Voldemort, so tensions still loomed in the air from his terrible reign. She had heard stories from her parents of Aurors and how brave they were to take on Death Eaters. She was intrigued with the idea of being able to protect the wizarding world and get paid for it too. By the time her sixth year at Hogwarts had rolled around, she had firmly decided that she wished to become and Auror.
Training to become an Auror is not exactly a light undertaking, and Tonks had her trouble spots. She is a naturally clumsy person, which almost cost her passing grades in Stealth and Tracking. But this is where being a Metamorphmagus really paid off. She was able to breeze through Concealment and Disguise with out so much as a sweat. She never bragged about though, mostly because she could barely walk thought a room without tripping over something while most others could. One Auror she always looked up to was Alastor ‘Mad-Eye’ Moody. Tonks not only admired his power and dedication to his career, she also identified with him, as he was thought of to be a bit of a nutter.
The year that she finished her Auror training was the same year of Voldemort’s secret renewal of power. Tonks, being totally loyal to Dumbledore and always thinking Cornelius Fudge was a little off, believed that the story was true when informed by the Auror Kingsley Shaklebolt. She joined up with fellow Aurors Mad-Eye and Kingsly and became a member of The Order of the Phoenix, sworn to protect the Wizarding world from the Dark Lord and his minions. Through the Order, she met and befriended many people, including the Weasleys (she already knew Arthur from the ministry), Hermione Granger and Harry Potter. She was also “reunited” so to speak, with her cousin Sirius, who had been held close to her mother’s heart. Tonks knew that being in the Order meant risking her life for the sake of others, and she was honored to be able to do such a duty.
Appearance: This is the one part of Tonks that is ever changing. Due to the fact that she is a Metamorphmagus by birth, she can pretty much make herself look like anything she wants. For example, she once became a severe-looking old woman in order to covertly escort Harry to King’s Cross. She could even look like a man if she needed to. She usually chooses to have spiky, short, hot-pink hair, pale skin, a heart-shaped face and dark chocolate eyes. She has a slim build, but is a lot more powerful then her look may suggest. She also uses her appearance as sort of a joke. Hermione Granger and Ginny Weasley enjoy watching her change her nose. (Their particular favorite is always the pig snout.) She has a very casual, relaxed walk seeing as she is still quite young. She knows there are more important things to worry about than whether or not she slouches at the dinner table.
When on the job, her personality shines right thought her clothing. While several members of the Auror department appear to be (and are) extremely stuffy, she can be seen wearing bright pink or violet robes, which occasionally match her hair, and although it clashes brilliantly, she enjoys it. When she’s not at the Ministry or working for the Order, she prefers the simple look of jeans and a t-shirt. She’s not ashamed to wear Muggle clothing, and sometimes prefers it. Her father usually dons Muggle attire, as he was raised as one, and Tonks always went back an forth as a child, although, no one could have persuaded her to put on anything with frills. Some people might think she is childish judging by the way she chooses to look, but Tonks knows what she has committed herself to and takes her work seriously; even if she doesn’t feel the same way about her appearance. After all, why would a person who can change their appearance at will ever worry about what they look like?
Personality: Tonks is quite a fun person to be around. She is open and welcoming and generally gets along with almost everyone she meets. She also tends to says whatever she is thinking. Its a bit of a bad habit, and has proven to be a hard one to break. She always loves a good practical joke. (She thinks Fred and George are hilarious), but she knows when it is time to be serious. While she could be considered a brave person, she’s doesn’t really enjoy being alone in the dark. Every since she was a small child, she had to have some source of light in order to fall asleep. This ’fear’ is most likely spawned from her parents stories of life when Voldemort had full power.
Tonks is an extremely clumsy person. Something interesting about her is that she doesn’t try to hid it. She usually just comes out and tells people she’s dead clumsy, and that’s that. She does make an effort to be less of a klutz, but it doesn’t pay off very much. Its just part of her character that she can’t change. She also is not the most tidy person. She never really got around to perfecting her household charms. The thought of being a stay-at-home witch always repulsed her, although she has great respect for her mother, Andromeda. She occasionally tries to magically fold socks like her mother can, but just ends up making them do a wiggly dance.
Special Requests: She is a Metamorphmagus
Sample: Tonks stepped into the entrance hall of Number 12 Grimmauld Place and took a slow, deep breath. It was followed with a stifled cough, as the house was quite musty. She was glad to be back there, although it was not the house itself that made her happy. It was the reason she was there; It was the fact the she was a member of The Order of the Phoenix.
Throughout her young life, she’d listened to her parents and even teachers talk about the original order. How brave they had all been, and how noble their cause was. She was intrigued with the idea of being able to serve other like that. Its what made her go through years of Auror training. But even when she left Hogwarts and began her training, she never could have imagined the things that would come of it. she never would have imagined that He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named would rise back to power, and that she would be asked to join the second Order of the Phoenix. It was all a little overwhelming, when she thought about it.
Tonks gazed around the hall, looking to see if anyone was downstairs. She had just popped by for a quick visit, as she was having a slow day at the Ministry. She didn’t hear any noise coming from the kitchen, so she figured it was empty. She knew that no matter what, Sirius would be there somewhere, and thought he might be on one of the upper floors. She crossed the hall, her eyes focused on the stairway, and did not see that bloody troll’s foot umbrella stand. She tripped and fell spectacularly onto the floor, letting out a word she would not have said in front of Molly Weasley, and knew exactly what was coming next.
“FILTH! SCUM! BE GONE FROM HERE! HOW DARE YOU DEFILE THE NOBLE NAME OF BLACK!!”
The portrait began screaming out making Tonks cover her ears as she stood up. It was probably the thing she hated most about the Black house. Having to listen to her lovely great-aunt yelling about the impurity of their work. She crossed over the where the portrait hung and grabbed a hold of the curtains on either side of it.
“BLOOD TRAITOR!! HALF-BREED SCUM!!”
Tonks knew what she was talking about. Her mother, being a daughter of the house of Black, had been looked upon as a traitor. Not only had she been accepted into the Gryffindor house, but she had chosen to marry the Muggle-born Ted Tonks. It was a choice that got her literally erased from the Black family. Tonks struggled with the curtains, as they put up quite a good fight. She looked around to see if anyone was coming to her aid, but found that she was still alone.
“Sirius!” she called, hoping he would come quickly. “Can you...help...me...ARRGH!” She nearly screamed as she managed to pull the moldy curtains closed. She quietly made her way to the bottom step and took a seat, breathing heavily. She shook her head out of semi-frustration and waited for Sirius to show himself.
