THE CHARACTER
Book Character, or Original: Original
Full Name: Lucian Dimitri Townsend
Nicknames: He doesn't really have a nickname
Age: 17 going on 18; December 8, 1979
Year: 7
Pets (if any): hm...a bit atypical but a raven named Poe
House: 1st:Ravenclaw
2nd: Hufflepuff
3rd: Slytherin
4th: Gryffindor
Blood Lines: Born to a muggle and a witch he is regarded as one half of the family as an oddity and by the other half as a prodigal son. He likes neither description really, preferring to call himself a product of chance really. He knows that one of his great grandparents was alleged to be a bit odd, but he has no idea which one since neither side of the family talks about it.
Background: Born on the cold evening of December 8, 1979, to the muggle Alexander Townsend and his wife, a witch, Genevieve. Even at an early age his parents could tell he was smarter than some of the other kids his age he was able to walk at 6 months, but for some reason had not been able to talk until he was about 3 years old, he had however developed a sign language of his own to communicate what he wanted. After he turned 3 years of age though he started talking in full complete sentences, as if he had been learning it from listening to people talk.
As he got older he started an odd habit of day dreaming at random times, sometimes even during class, but he was able to answer a question if asked. Some of the teachers he had had regarded the daydreaming as a problem, others not so much. He was in his last year at a muggle school when he developed this odd habit of talking to himself as a way to figure things out.
He was outcast-ed in the muggle schools because he was considered weird by the other students, very few would talk to him and the ones that did ended up either not talking to him again or becoming a friend. The ones who became his friends though still found him a little odd, but they had no idea why.
That was before the fateful day he received the invitation to Hogwarts. At first he was going to throw it away since he had no idea what it was and wasn't really expecting it. His curiosity got the better of him though and he opened it, completely shocked by what it said. He immediately showed his parents when they got home, and his father smiled while his mother practically glowed.
He was quickly told by his mother what Hogwarts was, where Diagon Alley was, and everything else other witches and wizards may or may not know. He was overwhelmed at first, but then started to like the idea of being a wizard and finally accepted it.
He had come a long way since his first year now though, he made the trip to Kings Cross Station almost always alone, his parents maybe dropping him off outside as they were rather busy these days. He didn't really care he had done it so many times now that he didn't need someone there to help him, and he was going to be 18 this year anyway.
Personality: He is very shy and quiet. He does not speak much unless spoken to or if he feels like saying something. He rarely if ever starts conversations with people, but will talk to someone if they start the conversation. He is studious, and can be found most likely in the library in his free time.
He will most likely sit away from other people in class, preferring to stay to himself. He routinely talks to himself about various things and will try to hide the fact that he does talk to himself, if he is caught talking to himself he will deny it and find some way to get out of talking to the person who caught him.
He describes his personality as a sort of geeky outcast, he plays video games some of the time and is studious but he was outcast-ed in the muggle world for the way he dressed and acted. He prefers to let other people describe him, as they generally have a better grasp of how he really is.
Many people who know him also say that he is a nice guy, if a tad odd, which he just shrugs at, if they say he's a nice guy then he probably is. He doesn't mind being called odd, and in fact takes pride in it, he doesn't want to be like everyone else.
Appearance: He has long, raven, black hair that reaches to his middle back, and is usually worn in a ponytail.
He stands 5' 8" tall and is only a slightly bit overweight. He is forced to wear glasses because his eyesight is so poor, in fact without his glasses he is functionally blind only being able to see about 5 feet without things becoming a blur, his glasses are small and oval shaped. His eyes are a light hazel in color, sometimes changing to a darker hazel when he's lost in thought/calm, and are a medium size, not too large but not too small.
When not in his Hogwarts uniform he prefers to wear comfortable, casual clothes normally in darker colors. Comfortable clothes to him mean big t-shrits in the spring, summer and fall, and then baggy sweatshirts, holes cut in the sleeves for his thumbs to stick through, in the winter. His pants are always a couples sizes too big and held on by a belt.
What makes your character different: He talks to himself, especially if he's trying to reason something out.
What does your character thinks about Dumbledore: He thinks Dumbledore was a great wizard and professor, but has no idea why he would just disappear like he did, but supposes the reason probably wasn't the greatest.
Third Years to Fifth Years: 3rd year: Charms, Transfiguration, Astronomy, History of Magic, Potions, Defense Against the Dark Arts, Herbology, Arithmancy and Ancient Runes
4th year: Divination and the base classes
5th year: Care of Magical Creatures, Ancient Runes and the base classes
Sixth Years and up: Charms, Transfiguration, Astronomy, History of Magic, Potions, Defense Against the Dark Arts, Herbology, Care of Magical Creatures and Ancient Runes
Special Requests: hm...can I have a raven as a pet? thats about the only thing I can think of. The only other thing I can think of is, did I do my class lists right?
Sample: Lucian was sitting in a corner of the room as usual, glancing up when someone would walk in, watching them, and looking at where they sat. He had found that just as he preferred the back corners, some people also preferred other seats in the room, taking them day after day. "Maybe its an unconscious thing they do, going for a familiar seat. Maybe they just feel lucky in that seat." He said to himself, and immediately nodded his head, "Yes I suppose that is possible, who's to say really." He responded to himself.
This particular class one of his favorites, Potions, which was right behind Ancient Runes in his favorite classes list, but before History of Magic. He wasn't sure why he was so fond of Potions, perhaps it was the smell that some of the potions emitted or maybe it was just the fact that the room was darker than some of the others, he always joked to himself or if he was talking to someone on that rare occasion and they asked about his favorite classes.
He snapped out of his thinking, realizing that he was just staring off into the distance and opened his book and took out his quill and parchment. Scrawling a note at the top of the page: I am not an amazing chocolater.
