I have recently finished reading the book and can honestly say that i strongly believe it to be my favorite.
However since today is the day the book was released i would ask that people wanting to discuss the book would please put "Spoilers" into the TITLE of the thread, therefore we can hope not to ruin it for anyone who hasn't finished the book and is taking their time in reading it. Please respect that of other people.

Highlight for spoilers where necessary!Easily my favorite book of the seven, with Prisoner of Azkaban a close second and The Order of the Phoenix behind that one. I especially loved the blatant disregard for fan love as she killed off anyone and their mother to drive the point home that war is not pretty. Spoiler The part where Harry watched Neville carry Colin Creevy's corpse was so sad , and it really helped to hammer in the emotional impact of it all. Four things that really bothered the heck out of me though: - Spoiler Hots for the character aside, was it really necessary for Tonks to drop a kid, and run blindly to her husband's side to fight? It would've been a really great opportunity to show how love fairs during times of war, instead, they get to my second gripe--
- Spoiler I could understand Remus dying. They had already killed 3 of the 4 Mauraders, it really wouldn't be surprising to have him fall as well, and have Tonks grieve, but go on knowing she has Ted to live for... Instead she killed off both of them, and in a surprisingly anti-climactic manner, considering how good both of them actually are. Just walking by the line of the dead and finding their lifeless corpses really didn't do it for me with these two as it did for Colin or Fred. Here's to hoping that the knuckle-headed screenwriters that put together the movies have the decency to write an on-camera death for them.
- Spoiler Speaking of Ted, the poor little kid is never going know the love and affection of his parents... Did he even have to be born in all this? His non-existence would've probably worked better for those two dying, showing how strong their love for each other was. Instead, it makes Tonks look like a lousy mum, and that I do not approve of! *shakes ham-fists of fury* I mean, yeah, his Grandma's still alive, but wouldn't it have been a lot more character building for Harry if he had adopted him and given him the life that his own Godfather had failed to give to him?
- Spoiler Oliver Wood? Oliver-frikkin'-Wood? Don't get me wrong, he's one of my favorite non-essential school characters... But didn't he graduate from Hogwarts back in Harry's third year? Rowling never identified what he did with himself after Hogwarts, so what's he doing back in school helpin' Neville cart Colin's body around???
That aside, great book. And Molly Weasley, you are truly a force to be reckoned with >.>

Ayra, next time you write a spoiler, take advantage of the board's black background, and change the font color to black, that way you have to highlight it to review.
There was apparently an interview with Rowling recently, Spoilerand in it she discussed other points of the "19 Years Later" bit. They didn't confirm whether or not Harry became an Auror, but she said Ron of all people became an auror, and that during his time between training he worked for George at his shop. Rowling also tried to explain that the story needed a war orphan, and that's why both Remus and Tonks died... I still say that's a crock. -.-

Well, my whole comment is a SPOILER - JK did say that Harry and Ron join the Auror Dept. and that Hermione joins the Dept. of Magical Law Enforcement. I believe that Ginny ends up playing Quidditch for the Hollyhead Harpies for a few years as well. About Remus and Tonks, she said she wanted to mirror what had happened to Harry and she had meant to kill Arthur Weasley in book five but couldn't bring herself to do it because she liked him too much. She needed to get rid of a father figure, so she chose Remus instead.
I love the whole book. Things that you might have expected happen and it also threw me for a loop with others. It was the perfect ending.
