THE PLAYER
What can we call you OOC: Dartania Thorne, or Bardie
Anyway to contact you: shelby@kauths.com, creativelit.proboards.com
Your real age: 15
Have you role-played before: yes, D&D occasionally for dunno years and PotWC for half a year, three years ago, before it crashed. Also, dunno if it's relevant, but I'm in Harry Potter Club at school.
Where did you hear about us: I've been looking for another written/post style RPG for a year, and came up with nothing. Then I google "UBBC Code" and found your page about that.
THE CHARACTER
Book Character, or Original: Original Character
Full Name: Sophiana Skye Schember
Nicknames: Skye for short
Age: 12, dunno what year we're playing right now.
Year: Second year
Pets (if any): None
House: Ravenclaw, Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Slytherin
Blood Lines: Biological father unknown(rape). Mother is muggleborn. 'Legal father' is pureblood and 'bloodtraitor'
Background: Skye is the third of four children. Her older brother and sister are fraternal twins, both sixth year. Her younger brother is not yet at Hogwarts. Skye is the only rapebaby. The Schember family lived in France for the past seven years(since she was five), so she speaks both languages fluently. The family is not poor, but not rich. The only hand-me-downs are the expensive and lightly-used garments, such as really nice dress robes. They have six good brooms and a not-too-beat-up Quidditch set. They, like any other wizard family, are big Quidditch fans. Skye was brought up knowing that her father is not really her father, but brought up with the same love anyways. There is nothing too peculiar about her family, besides the fact that they have literally a ton of books. About half of them are fiction and half are reference. Skye has read half the fiction and a quarter of the reference books, not counting the books she just flips through to find what she needs. Her mother, father, and siblings all went into Ravenclaw. She hopes for the same.
Personality: Skye is one of those people who are just forgotten about. She's not even known through her older siblings being near-top-of-the-class. She is quiet most of the time, but bold when she speaks. She doesn't waver. She doesn't even get nervous in front of Snape. She gets on the good sides of all the teachers, even Snape if he ever showed a good side to the class. She hates animals, loves plants, loves the wind rushing through her hair, loves novels, likes any type of book, loves heights, and prefers the colors blue and black. She sees the goodness in people and doesn't laugh when someone falls. But she also sees the cruelness in people's actions. She strives for good grades. Skye is usually suspicious of people who come up and try to make friends in certain ways, because she has experienced a lot people in elementary school who would come up, offer to be friends, and then embarrass her.
Appearance: Many people see Skye as a slight goth. She has naturally pitch black hair to her waist and irises as dark as pupils. She usually paints her fingernails black, but doesn't wear any make-up, because of sensitive skin. Her skin is naturally pale and usually flushed red, which she likes. She is rather tall, though not outstandingly so. Her legs are long, torso short, so when she sits up straight, she's average height. She keeps her back straight and carries an air of confidence. But few people think she is remarkable. She smiles when people show kindness, but not when they make jokes. Most people don't bother her anymore, but she often attempts curses on people like Drayco Malfoy when they bother meek people. Many people think that she stares too much without blinking, but she simply looks people in the eyes. Skye wants to join the Quidditch team, but doubts her ability.
What makes your character different: Skye is able to do simple charms without speaking, more complex spells with a whisper, tiny movements. Also--it may be magic or not--people seem to forget her whenever she's not looking at them or they at her. She also seems to be able to differentiate between good and bad intentions in friendship offerings, except when they're to her. Also, she can get close to the Whomping Willow without it whacking her. She often sits under it for protection. But she's not brave; she only helps in secret. She is smart, but ranks in the middle of Ravenclaw. And she's not special beyond that.
What does your character thinks about Dumbledore: There is too much propaganda surrounding Dumbledore. There is no doubt that he is a great man, and on the right side of the war. But he himself is murky. The students don't know his past, and he has so much controversy. There is no way to tell if he is as great, greater than, or less than he is made out to be.
Third Years to Fifth Years: Not there yet, but planning on Muggle Studies, Arithmancy, and Ancient Runes, not the others.
Sixth Years and up: (What classes are you taking? (DADA is mandatory))
Special Requests: Only apologizing for the backgrounds and such being two paragraphs clumped into one, jumping around between different snippets of info.
Sample: Skye stood taller than all of the girls and most of the boys. They looked at her; she could feel the stares on the back of her head, but didn't return the looks, so they looked away. She assumed they thought of her as goth, with her dye-black hair that was actually natural, and her painted black fingernails. Among muggles, her black clothing had further marked her as goth, but here everyone was forced into black. She stood with her back straight, even though it made her even taller. The old, neatened professor with the stern voice called for the first years to quiet down, and they did, gradually, though Skye had been silent the entire time, knowing no one, and scaring off the others with just the way she stood. Professor McGonagall called all the first years to line up, and they did without too much fuss beyond the one who tripped over his robe hem and landed right beside some angry-looking Slytherins.
Skye, for all apearances' sake, looked like the calmest person in the room, but her mind was racing, near inner hysteria. Ravenclaw she thought, over and over, as though that would change anything before she had the hat on. What if I get stuck in Hufflepuff, or ten times worse, Slytherin? Skye barely heard the Sorting Hat's song, barely registering that the voice belonged to a torn-up old hat. She felt as though Ravenclaw was the only place she belonged. In Slytherin, she would hate most of them, and surely get caught cursing them. In Hufflepuff, she would feel like she was a porcupine in with a bunch of lambs. In Gryffindor, she would be the most cowardly person there, unless a Slytherin accidently got put in. In Ravenclaw, she could be average, at least.
Skye was so absorbed in her worries, that she barely heard her name. It caught her off guard when the thin, stiff professor called out "Schember, Sophiana." It rarely happened that she was surprised. She walked towards the stool with the hat on it, taking a deep breath and repeating Ravenclaw, Ravenclaw, Ravenclaw, even though she didn't know how much good it would do, as no one would tell their experience under the Hat. Skye sat on the stool, feet flat on the ground, back still straight, not registering the reaction of the crowd to just another first year, still repeating that one word, over and over, as Professor McGonagall lowered the hat towards her head.
(I'd end there and ask how the hat reacts. McGonagall's predictable, the hat and Dumbledore are not. Plus, I still don't know whether you will put Skye in Ravenclaw or not. We have sorting in our club, and they put me in Hufflepuff for some reason unknown to me.)
